Committee meeting times were discussed and announced — these times have been posted to the Google calendar on the website.

The Madden Tournament was discussed — sign ups can be sent to Eni Eboda.

Individual programmer needs were discussed, including asking one another for help with upcoming events. The Madden Tournament is coming up, as well as Turkey Rock.

Survey results are available — these are posted on the website for all to see!

Student Events Board has recently added a Google Calendar to the website — loaded with event information, committee meeting times, and office hours.

Co-sponsor/collaboration events were proposed — the Student Events Board wants to work with different organizations to produce the best events possible! A co-sponsorship form is available on the website, or leaders of organizations can contact any Student Events Board staff member.

Student Events Board/Lit House collaboration was discussed — Allison Novak will be heading up this venture, for a spring event.

Chip sent a blackboard survey link to all students, to vote for the main stage event. Upon receiving feedback results, his committee decided to wait until the spring to throw an amazing event. Details to follow!

October 21, 2007

The organization welcomed two new programmers, Jake Deal and Chip Hiden! Chip will work, along with his committee, to create and hold a main stage event in either the fall or the spring, and Jake will work on general programming with his committee.

The mission statement for the organization was discussed. Conversation flowed around the statement being short, to the point, and including the idea that the organization: holds student events, is inclusive, and can adapt to meet the event needs of the campus community.

A committee general interest meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 23rd at 7 p.m. in the Hynson Study Lounge. This will be an organized session for interested students to come and learn more about Student Events Board. If you cannot attend this meeting and are interested in joining (at any point during the year), email studenteventsboard@gmail.com

October 14, 2007

Interview dates and times were established for adding two new programmers to the current staff, bringing the number of programmers to six. Both of these positions will add the need for two new committees, which will provide even more opportunities for students to get involved with the Student Events Board!

A survey was also compiled to gauge student interest of various events to bring/hold on campus. This survey will be basic, and the questions will not be invasive, thus negating the need for approval from the Review Board on Human Subjects. The surveys will be available for students to fill out in the Dining Hall during lunch and dinnertime for a two-week period. Any data gathered will be available for anyone to see.

Events discussion — the first Student Events Board event was held last Wednesday — a Wii Tournament. This coveted gaming console was provided to students, in a tournament format, to have a fun night with friends! Those who attended the event reported having an awesome time. Video game tournaments will be highly considered for future events.

Student Events Board member expectations were discussed. Main points: the organization wants to be open, positive, fun, organized, creative, responsible, committed, courteous, and comprised of hard workers!

Meeting summary: October 7, 2007

In this meeting, Student Events Board committees were discussed — each Programmer oversees a committee, to which there are no number limits (any number of people can join). Training was also discussed for the organization.

During training, the organization

Initial programming plans for the remainder of the semester were discussed, as well as starting to create ideas for Spring Semester programming.

Organization transparency and visibility were also topics of conversation, as items of extreme importance in an organization that remains inclusive.

The first official meeting of the new Student Events Board! The organizational vision for transforming the nature of programming on this campus was discussed, as well as the need for drafting an organization mission statement, handbook, and constitution. Staff office hours were also chosen, for the student office located in the Student Center. The National Association for Campus Activities conference in the fall will occur this weekend, from October 5th thru October 8th. One representative from Student Events Board, Koko, will attend this along with the Leadership and Programming Interns and the organization advisor (jared halter).

During office hours this week, all programmers were asked to research event possibilities for the remainder of the fall semester (as well as ideas for the spring semester). This will be discussed further during the organization's fall training retreat, October 9th and 10th.
